Curriculum Overview

To support our mission, values, and goals at DHS, we have developed our own specialised curriculum based on the British, International with National Curriculum. Special emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and digital literacy skills across all subjects while special care is taken to inculcate moral values and christian teaching through Christian Religious Studies and Personal Social and Health Education.
Competency based education
To ensure continuity of learning and the maturity of skills essential to the intellectual progress of your child, our curriculum is built with emphasis on developing skills alongside gaining knowledge. Our curriculum is a spiral curriculum where skills previously learnt are revisited and built upon to reach mastery.

Teaching Methods

We adopt learner centered approach using evidence-based best practices specific to the age and cognitive ability of our pupils to inform the content of our teaching material and the methods used to deliver it.
We believe this will promote deep learning and critical thinking skills. We make sure to connect our content to real life situations even inside our classrooms and also on field trips.

Child Protection Policy

The protection of every child that comes into our care is of the upmost importance to us. We recognise the rights of children, as set out by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1989, and stipulate that all GHA staff must work to uphold the rights of children and ensure for their well-being and safeguarding in line with the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy (LSSCP) and Child’s Right Law, 2007. All staff members are required to sign the LSSCP Policy, submit an affidavit of good behaviour regarding interactions with children, and undergo a background search in the Lagos state sex offenders register. In line with our vision for the school, we want to ensure that all children; irrespective of gender, religion, ethnic origin, political background, disability, health status or any other bias; have equal access to education and all provisions made available to them, and are protected from abuse or exploitation. All staff members have duty to ensure the well-being of our pupils and to contribute to their care. No harm should come to children in our care.
